Canon targetting a sales turnover of Rs 800 crore in 2009

KOCHI: Canon India Private Ltd is targetting a sales turnover of Rs 800 crore this calendar year, a top official of the company said here today.

The company's turnover in 2008 was Rs 665 crore, Alok Bharadwaj, Senior Vice President, Canon India, told reporters.

Canon is expecting 33 per cent revenue from its camera business alone this year.

The camera business has seen growth of 27 per cent in the first six months of this year, he said.

The company's overall average business growth in India is 19 per cent while from camera alone it is 27 per cent. In Digital SLR cameras, canon is a top player with a market share of 54 per cent,he said.

As part of its festival season starting with Onam, Canon has launched a range of new cameras.

During the festival season (August-September) last year sales was rs four crore and this year the company was expecting a 50 per cent growth to touch rs six crore, he said.

Kerala accounts for six per cent of their total sales, he said.
