Intel Corporation on Friday introduced its new family of advanced processors, promising greater efficiency in terms of performance and energy consumption.
“The all-new 2010 Intel Core family of processors delivers unprecedented integration and smart performance, including Intel’s ‘Turbo Boost’ technology for laptops, desktops and embedded devices,” said Intel South Asia Director-Sales R. Ravichandran.
Energy efficient
“For the first time, there is a new family of Intel processors with the industry’s most advanced technology available immediately at virtually every PC price point. These smart processors adapt to an individual’s needs, automatically providing a boost of performance for everyday applications. They become energy efficient to the point of shutting down processing cores or reducing power consumption to provide performance when people need it, and energy efficient when they don’t,” he added.
“These processors are about twice as fast as comparable existing PCs for visibly faster video, photo and music downloading experience. The mainstream processors automatically adapt to an individual’s performance needs. Intel is unveiling several platform products, including more than 25 processors, wireless adapters and chipsets,” Mr. Ravichandran said.
More than 400 laptop and desktop PC platform designs were expected from computer-makers based on these products, with another 200 expected for embedded devices, he said, and added that in India, systems with new processors PCs would to be available from all computer manufacturers.
According to Intel South Asia Director (Marketing) Prakash Bagri, “we wanted to make available one of the most advanced technologies at mainstream price points. This is also the first time that high-definition graphics and audio capabilities have been integrated directly onto the processors.”
The processors would support mainstream and casual 3D gaming, without the need for an add-in video card. It also supports Microsoft Windows 7 operating system, he added.
