NEW DELHI: Chinese computer manufacturer Lenovo on Tuesday launched seven new personal computers, including one in all-in-one category, and announced plans to introduce 50 new products this year to strengthen its product portfolio.

Priced between Rs. 22,500 and Rs. 1.04 lakh, the new product line-up caters to a broad segment of consumers — from Lenovo C300, the ultra-sleek, affordable, all-in-one PC, to the trendy, thin and light Lenovo IdeaPad U350, Y450 and Y550 notebooks that are loaded with new features, to the competitively priced Lenovo G Series notebooks for value conscious consumers.

Addressing a press conference, Lenovo India Managing Director Amar Babu said: “With trendsetting design, cutting-edge capabilities and great price range in our new product line-up, we hope to further consolidate our position in the fast-growing Indian PC market.” About Lenovo’s India focus, Mr. Babu said: “A significant part of our business focus will be on growing consumers in critical markets such as India. Our priority is to streamline operations to drive down cost, improve time-to-market, and offer consumers innovative and affordable PCs across a full range portfolio from value to mainstream and premium.” Stating that Lenovo would launch 50 new products this year, Mr. Babu said the new range of notebooks would now be imported, but as the demand increased, the company would look at production here. About decline in sales, Mr. Babu said this was a result of the slowdown in PC shipments in general as well as enterprise purchases being slow. But, over the next quarters demand was likely to rise on the back of government buying and also a strong demand from the consumer segment. Lenovo sells about 1.5-lakh units quarterly. The company has a manufacturing facility in Puducherry with a capacity of 30-lakh units annually.
